Sad News

I found out last night from Eric that a fixture of my PA life is now closed. Never again will I taste a "single order of medium wings with extra blue cheese" from Jim Dandy's. The sad thing is I was really looking forward to eating real wings (sorry Buffalo Wild Wings...you just don't cut it) when Eric and I head east in late July. Now I will only treasure these wings in my memory. These wings were so over-the-top delicious my college friend and basketball teammate Mark Palmer would give them a standing ovation after every order consumed. I wonder how many wings from Jim Dandy's I actually ate in the 11 years I lived there? Most likely a disgusting number that would make me kind of sick. Anyways, I feel as if I need to say goodbye to you Jim Dandy's. Goodbye waiters and waitresses that wore the funny little white shirts with the black bowties. Goodbye little dance floor where I saw Steve Garcia bust a few amazing moves. Goodbye french onion soup..you were quite tasty. Goodbye pathetic middle-aged man sitting at the bar hitting on girls half your age. And goodbye you amazing pieces of chicken. I will miss you the most. You were wonderful...every last one of you.

I feel your sadness, Jamie. Jim Dandy's was my first exposure to Karaoke :) I have fond memories of busting it out w/a group of my highschool friends. It was our Sunday night routine there for awhile :) And yes, we will all miss their wings!

Well, I won't miss their wings, but their was the old guy on the dance floor with the lady half his age that was entertaining...

Dang...I've never eaten Jim Dandy's handiwork, but you make me wish I had before they closed. Why must all good things come to an end? Gretchen, what's the deal? Why aren't you on the Jim Dandy Wing bandwagon?

Dan, I am not arguing that they don't have the best wings--everyone I know who has had them says they are the best, but I just don't really like wings period-too messy.

I was also shocked and saddened by the news as I pulled into NEPA last week. It's always part of the food plan while we're here...
