Although I tease Tara lovingly about her obsession with Christmas music, I myself love Christmas music as well. Currently I have a nice little playlist going on my itunes featuring many of my favorite Christmas albums. My friend
Dan Halvorsen recently said the great thing about Christmas music is that you only sing them once or twice a year so you don't ever get sick of them. That thought is why Christmas albums from artists such as Stephen Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, and Jewel still find their spot in the rotation alongside of newer albums from Josh Groban and Sarah McLaughlin. But there is one album I hold higher than any other. I realize that I open myself to much ridicule for admitting this but for sentimental reasons I can't find an album that tops good old Gene Autry, The Christmas Cowboy's, Christmas album. I mean come on...how can you top his renditions of "Rudolph", "Silver Bells", and ever famous "Whirly Bird"? It is the first album I listen to every Christmas season while we decorate the tree and it will be playing tomorrow night when my family opens gifts together before the trip to Iowa. I don't think I could consider it Christmas time without Gene being in the mix.
