I thought Minnesotans were tough?

When I moved here in 2004 I was told how tough Minnesotans were when it comes to the cold. Well that myth was shattered last night when we, the proud parents of students at Washburn Elementary, received an automated phone call that Bloomington Public Schools would close their doors today due to the COLD (abs). I guess Minnesotans are tough until it is -22 degrees over night. I may have to reconsider where I live if my children are going to be raised in such a soft environment. I want them to grow up resilient and tough as nails. Ponsi is the epitome of toughness and I don't want that ruined.

I hear that Columbus "Buckeye Nation" closed the doors too...what does that mean?

Funny Jamie! It's so cold that my kitchen faucet isn't working any longer, due to a frozen pipe. I can't wait until next week, when we have a heat wave once it reaches 30 degrees!

A whole county down here closed they're schools yesterday too. The temperature dropped below 20 degrees overnight - coldest temps in over 10 years....so lots of schools were closing. So, I'm guessing you shouldn't move here if you're looking to build resilience into your children. Maybe move to Canada.

Our family has been wicked sick off and on for over a month and when it comes to sickness, I'm a major tv girl...no web surfing for me! So I missed a ton of your blog entries and just had so much fun reading so many of them at once. =) And yeah, it's freakin freezing here...Jake had 2 days off because of temps.

OH MY GOSH Jamie. How do you live there. -20? I can't even imagine what that feels like. Maybe, since the schools are wimping out, you should take the girls out to play in the snow for a while. Oh wait, Gretchen did that. Sledding in -20 weather, that has got to help them be tough... Poor things.

We got an inch of snow last night and every blessed thing was shut down! DELIGHTFUL. We are still wearing our pajamas and it's almost 5:00.
